Quick Facts
  • Hagar's CLC began in 2006 and has supported more than 360 students achieve their academic goals.

Most children who come to Hagar have had little or no education. Hagar's Community Learning Centre (CLC) in Phnom Penh is a "catch-up" school that sees children complete two school years in 12 months. This allows them to quickly catch up to their age-appropriate level and reintegrate into the Cambodian school system.

Children from Hagar's programs as well as children from a local slum community attend CLC. Through high quality education, Hagar gives each student the opportunity to achieve their learning potential.

CLC offers a safe and nurturing environment where children learn and develop socially, spiritually, mentally and physically. CLC offers Khmer curriculum, English, and information technology courses, out-of-hours education for children and adults in the community, and youth leadership and peer mentoring programs.

Importantly, CLC also works with the students to raise awareness on social and human rights issues such as HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, and trafficking. These youth leadership and peer mentoring programs encourage a new generation of young leaders to pursue excellence.
