
Benyamin* was just six years old when he was trafficked from Pakistan to Afghanistan. Much of his young life remains shrouded in mystery. No one knows where he comes from, where his family is now, the circumstances that led to him being trafficked, or what life was like for him in the care of a security officer in Southwest Afghanistan.
Samnieng's story is one of tragedy, but not without hope. Samnieng's father died when she was 10, making her vulnerable in her community. She was was raped shortly after. By the time she was a teenager, she had been trafficked through two brothels and then freed in a raid by the police, only to be sexually abused while working in a karaoke shop shortly afterwards.
Hagar presented ground breaking research, "Toward a Cooperative Future: A Study on the Situation of Children with Intellectual Disabilities in Cambodia" on July 15. Representatives from the Government of Cambodia's Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and UNICEF attended the workshop presented at the Cambodiana Hotel in Phnom Penh.
