A cacophany of sound and a flurry of neatly pressed white shirts and blue skirts and pants could only mean one thing - the first day of school at Hagar's Community Learning Centre.
Nearly 200 children started classes on September 29th and the day kicked off with great fanfare, including a school-wide assembly where students performed traditional Cambodian dance, comic skits and songs. Several government officials joined in the celebration and encouraged a future generation of Cambodian leaders to pursue excellence in their education.
Hagar's CLC provides catch-up education - and a new hope for the future - for more than 50 children from Hagar's programs, over 100 from the local slum community and 30 children referred by partner organizations. Read more about the program here.
